One question we often hear at the admissions office is how old is too old to go to beauty school. And you may find yourself in a beautiful office, with a beautiful succulent, asking yourself, “Well…is it too late to start a new career in the beauty industry?”

The answer is…no. It is never too late to start a new career. Throughout the years The Institute of Beauty and Wellness have seen students from all different career backgrounds.

While some of our students start their programs right out of high school, many start beauty school later in life. Some have retired from corporate careers to pursue their lifelong dream of becoming a hairdresser.

Going to school later can benefit you because you will have more life experiences that can help you with the program. You will already have the experience of working with others in a classroom/ office setting which will benefit not only yourself, but also your peers.

Our programs are for people of all ages, and because they are brief, they allow non-traditional school students to graduate and start working their dream job sooner.

How Can You Kickstart Your New Career?

When you decide to change a career, it can be intimidating of how and where to start. If you aren’t sure that beauty school is right for you, try shadowing a class.

Shadow A Class

We offer class shadowing to give you a sneak peek of what it feels like to be in a class. During your shadow, you’ll meet an instructor, and witness the curriculum in action.

Get a kickstart to your career by shadowing a class.

Plan It Out

One of the biggest things to consider is time. Does school fit in with your work, and home life right now? You will need to factor in the time you spend traveling to class, time spent in-class and time spent studying.

Our programs are hour-based which means attendance is crucial for success. Theory is part of all programs that require studying outside of class. Massage Therapy and Ayurveda Esthetic have a more extensive theory part and will need a substantial amount of study time. Make a mock schedule for one month and block out the time you work, are in class, and study time to see how everything would fit for your life.

Financially Stable

A question you should ask yourself before starting your new career is, are you able to afford to enroll in a program? There are many ways to finance your education whether it’s financial aid, private loans, or scholarships. Some who choose to change careers start to build up a little fund before they make the jump to cover the cost of school. Keep in mind that if you change hours at work to accommodate class that your finances may change.

If you are ready to take the leap and change your career, a shift to the beauty and wellness industry might be the right move for you! To get started schedule a tour to learn more about the programs we offer.
