You will acquire the technical and business skills necessary for your career with an education that encompasses current men’s grooming techniques in cutting, shaving and texture. We were thrilled when Wisconsin first announced the barbering course option and we couldn’t wait to create a program with you in mind. We sat down with an advisory board of local barbershop owners to develop a barbering curriculum that would include what future employers need you to know. Our barbering program offers small class size for more individualized attention and is more focused than cosmetology on men’s hair trends and cutting techniques.
Our barbering program gives you an insider’s understanding of a barber’s career by providing unique learning experiences such as advanced guest education with local and globally known barbers.
Our 1000-hour hybrid program includes clinic hours where you can work with guests and master your practical skills. In addition, we offer an externship program where our students can earn hours through real hands-on experience by working at a salon or barbershop. Our program will allow you to create hairstyle trends that are in demand use the “tools of the trade” including: scissors, straight razors, foaming machines, and reclining chairs.
ALPHABegin by learning the fundamentals of men’s design, styling, and related sciences. Lectures, demonstrations and workshops concentrate on developing skill and accuracy and reinforcing classroom knowledge. You’ll be introduced to product marketing, client servicing and personal development skills. This unit also covers state safety requirements. |
BetaOur focus on classic barbering techniques and design philosophy will be a strong foundation as you begin taking guests on our clinic floor. Shave skills are introduced to allow you to provide well-rounded services. Business workshops focus on employment and career advancing skills. |
GammaRefining your skills on the clinic floor will assist you in building confidence and allow you to attract and retain male clientele; preparing you for the salon. You can demonstrate competency in all tasks required for the skill certification examination, and possess the theoretical knowledge you need to pass the written examination required by The Institute of Beauty and Wellness and the State of Wisconsin for licensure. |
