WHAT IS A GREEN TEAM?
A green team is a group of employees amongst a company who not only share the same love and care for the Earth, but also commit to engaging other employees about their interests and study the performance of the company itself.
MEET OUR GREEN TEAM
The Institute of Beauty and Wellness has an innovative, environmentally focused club called, “Green Team.” This club is a group of eco-conscious students who meet monthly to advance the Aveda Mission and support an environmentally responsible school climate.
Each class selects a green team leader who will represent their class. Members of the Green Team develop initiatives throughout the year to share their passion for Environmental Leadership.
Our mission at Aveda is to care for the world we live in, from the products we make to the ways in which we give back to society. At Aveda, we strive to set an example for environmental leadership and responsibility, not just in the world of beauty but around the world.

ROOFTOP GARDEN
The Institute of Beauty and Wellness Milwaukee location has a beautiful rooftop garden that the Green Team cares for. This not only teaches students how to care for plants, but the products grown are used in The Institute for recipe ideas. Leaders have grown herbs in the past and shared meal ideas with the students/team body that include the herbs grown. This is a fantastic way to promote healthy eating and living, which The Institute of Beauty and Wellness is passionate about.
FUNDRAISING
Green Team Members also use recycling to make creative gifts and crafts that are sold for fundraising. These gifts and crafts are largely sold during Earth Month in May and Breast Cancer Awareness in October, one of the most popular fundraising gifts being hair tinsel.
This past May, The Institute of Beauty and Wellness helped raise over $15,700 for the Urban Ecology Center for our Earth Month efforts!
Institute of Beauty and Wellness annually hosts an earth month themed fashion show that encourages students to create outfits using found and recycled materials. This year’s Institute of Beauty and Wellness Madison Catwalk for Clean Water first place winner created her look with 100% recycled materials using gloves from hair coloring & toners. This is one of the most looked forward to events of the year.
GREEN TEAM ACTIVITIES
The green team contributes to making sure The Institute is always being eco-conscious by disposing of waste properly.
Other Green Team Activities Include:
- promoting environmental responsibility and green living
- sharing actionable ways our community can protect the earth, with an emphasis on leading a school-wide philanthropic project during Earth Month
- maintaining our Green Circle salon recycling program, measuring and communicating impact results
- organizing nationally-recognized guest speakers to visit the school and educate on environmental initiatives
The Green Team Leaders bring the initiative back to their classroom and get the student body engaged in being a part of the Aveda Mission. At The Institute of Beauty and Wellness, we strive to create a healthier world and environment for all to live in.
