The Institute Of Beauty & Wellness hosts annual Earth Month fundraising efforts every April. In 2022, The Institute Of Beauty & Wellness, combined with our sister business, Neroli Salon & Spa, were able to donate $26,187 to Milwaukee’s Urban Ecology Center! At the time, it was our greatest fundraising event yet. For 2023, our team and guests strove to surpass our 2022 numbers. We partook in multiple fundraising efforts partnering with The Urban Ecology Center and Aveda x Charity:Water.

We are excited to share that The Institute Of Beauty & Wellness and Neroli Salon & Spa has raised $27,715.19, exceeding our 2022 numbers. We can’t thank our guests enough for participating and supporting our Earth Month fundraising events. It takes all of us to make a difference.

CATWALK FOR CLEAN WATER FASHION SHOW

The Institutes of Beauty and Wellness annually celebrates Earth Month with two evenings of stunning, sustainable fashion designed by the industry’s best up-and-coming beauty professionals, with all proceeds from ticket sales benefiting clean water around the globe.  Students create outfits completely out of repurposed materials and finish the looks with hair, makeup, and nails.

The beauty industry creates over 877 pounds of waste every single minute. As an Aveda school, The Institute of Beauty and Wellness faculty and students work tirelessly year-round to create a learning environment with a very small carbon footprint. From utilizing 100% vegan products that are completely manufactured with renewable wind energy, to working annually with non-profit partners such as Charity:Water, the student body has a heavy focus on environmental sustainability. Earth Month is a thread woven throughout the curriculum of these students.

WHERE OUR DONATIONS GO

MILWAUKEES URBAN ECOLOGY CENTER

The Urban Ecology Center connects people in cities to nature and each other. The three locations are open to the public and serve people of all ages and income levels across Milwaukee. Each year on average 200,000 people visit the Urban Ecology Center’s branches and parks for summer camps, environmental education programs, community science opportunities, and land stewardship activities.

Their vision is to “inspire generations to build environmental curiosity, understanding, and respect. We restore hope and heal our urban natural world, neighborhood by neighborhood.”

Today, the Urban Ecology Center has two additional locations in Milwaukee: one in Washington Park to serve communities and schools on Milwaukee’s west side and one in the Menomonee Valley on Milwaukee’s south side. The UEC is a vibrant and growing organization, serving 77,000+ people each year and protecting and restoring urban green spaces in Milwaukee.

A thank you from the Urban Ecology Center:

AVEDA X CHARITY:WATER

Charity:Water is a nonprofit organization bringing clean and safe drinking water to people in developing countries. 785 million people live without clean water. That’s nearly 1 in 10 people worldwide, or, twice the population of the United States without access to life’s most basic human need. The majority live in isolated rural areas and spend hours everyday walking to collect water for their family. Not only does walking for water keep kids out of school and take up time that parents could use to earn money, but the water often carries diseases that make them sick.

When a community gets access to clean water, it can change just about everything. It can improve health, increase access to food, grow local economies, and help kids spend more time in school.

The water crisis is huge, but it is solvable. Our fundraising efforts supported the Aveda x Charity:Water organization.
