Where Are You From, and What Inspired You to Pursue Cosmetology at Aveda Institute Madison?
I am from Janesville, Wisconsin. I chose the Aveda Institute Madison because, first of all, I fell in love with the AVEDA mission the second I heard it. When I first took a tour of the Aveda Institute Madison, everyone was so friendly. I felt right at home and knew this was where I wanted to start my education.
Can You Share a Bit About the Cosmetology Program at Aveda Institute Madison and Why You Decided to Pursue It?
I chose the cosmetology program because I’ve always loved doing hair and makeup. Making people feel beautiful as a career is my goal.
What is the Most Exciting Thing You’ve Learned So Far in Your Program, and What Has Been the Most Challenging?
Color is definitely the most exciting thing I have learned so far because its outcome is always such a big change for the guest. Color also is the most challenging thing I have learned because it takes time to learn the formulation that goes into getting the desired outcome.
What Has Surprised You the Most About Your Experience at Aveda Institute Madison?
The one thing that surprised me about school is how much fun I am having! I never dread going to school; I know I will do some fun, yet challenging things to keep me on my toes daily.
Who Was Your Favorite Guest Educator So Far, and Why?
My favorite guest educator so far would have to be Josef Stempinski. He always relates to things we understand for being students. He always has something funky and new to show us.
Where Do You See Yourself After Graduation, and What Are Your Career Aspirations?
After graduation, I see myself working in a salon, not sure which one yet. But also continuing my education to only get better at what I love to do.
What is One Piece of Advice You Would Give to Others Thinking About Coming to School at Aveda Institute Madison?
One piece of advice I would give to someone thinking of coming to school here is to be confident and ask questions! You can learn something new every single day here, so I highly suggest taking advantage of that 🙂

Some fun activities I enjoy participating in at Aveda Institute Madison include our themed dress-up days, where we get to showcase our creativity and have a blast with our classmates.

I stay motivated by reminding myself of my passion for cosmetology and the exciting journey ahead. Setting goals, seeking support from my peers, and maintaining a positive mindset keep me inspired even during tough times.

One product tip I’ve learned is to always moisturize your hands and cuticles regularly. It not only keeps your hands soft and hydrated but also ensures a smooth and flawless application of nail polish during manicures.
