STUDENT: Emily PROGRAM: Cosmetology
Q: WHERE ARE YOU FROM?
EMILY: I am from Janesville, Wisconsin
Q: WHY DID YOU CHOOSE THE AVEDA INSTITUTE MADISON?
EMILY: I chose AIM, first of all, because I fell in love with the AVEDA mission the second I heard it. When I first took a tour of AIM everyone was so friendly, I felt right at home and knew this was where I wanted to start my education.
Q: WHAT PROGRAM DID YOU CHOOSE, AND WHY?
EMILY: I chose the cosmetology program because I’ve always loved doing hair and make-up. Making people feel beautiful as a career is my goal.
Q: WHAT IS THE MOST EXCITING/CHALLENGING THING YOU’VE LEARNED SO FAR IN YOUR PROGRAM?
EMILY: Color is definitely the most exciting thing I have learned so far because its outcome is always such a big change for the guest. Color also is the most challenging thing I have learned because it takes time to learn the formulation that goes into getting the desired outcome.
Q: WHAT IS ONE THING THAT HAS SURPRISED YOU ABOUT SCHOOL?
EMILY: The one thing that surprised me about school is how much fun I am having! I never dread going to school, I know I will do some fun, yet challenging things, to keep me on my toes daily.
Q: WHO WAS YOUR FAVORITE GUEST EDUCATOR SO FAR?
EMILY: My favorite guest educator so far would have to be Josef Stempinski. He always relates to things we understand for being students. He always has something funky and new to show us.
Q: WHERE DO YOU SEE YOURSELF AFTER GRADUATION?
EMILY: After graduation, I see myself working in a salon, not sure which one yet. But also continuing my education to only get better at what I love to do.
Q: WHAT IS ONE PIECE OF ADVICE YOU WOULD GIVE TO OTHERS THINKING ABOUT COMING TO SCHOOL?
EMILY: One piece of advice I would give to someone thinking to come to school here is to be confident and ask questions! You can learn something new every single day here, so I highly suggest taking advantage of that 🙂
