We are following recommendations by the Center for Disease Control (CDC) and Prevention and the Wisconsin Department of Health Services (DHS) to help keep team members, students, and guests safe from the spread of COVID-19 and other variants related to the disease.

Effective Thursday, 8/19/2021 masks are to be worn by team members, instructors, students, and guests while indoors regardless of vaccination status.

What are the symptoms of COVID-19 that I should self-monitor for prior to coming to school?

COVID-19 Symptoms:

 

  • Cough
  • Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
  • Fever >=100.4F
  • Chills
  • Muscle pain
  • Sore throat
  • New loss of taste or smell

This list is not all inclusive. Other less common symptoms have been reported, including gastrointestinal symptoms like nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea.

If you are experiencing the above symptoms, please seek medical attention immediately. Do not come to school if you are feeling unwell.

What happens if I test positive for Covid-19?

  • If you test positive for COVID-19 you will need to self-quarantine for 10 - 14 days
  • Follow the direction given by Public Health Madison & Dane County and Milwaukee Health Department.
  • Please notify school administration immediately - Email studentservices@ibw.edu someone will reach out to you as soon as possible

What if I come in close contact with someone that tested positive for COVID-19 and I’m not fully vaccinated?

If you are in close contact with someone that tests positive for the virus and you’re not fully vaccinated you will need to get tested, stay off campus, isolate, and monitor your symptoms.

 

  • Please let administration know right away by emailing studentservices@ibw.edu someone will reach out to you as soon as possible.
  • If the school is notified that a guest has tested positive, we will follow the direction given by Public Health Madison & Dane County and Milwaukee Health Department.

What counts as close contact?

Close contact includes:

 

  • You were within 6 feet of someone who has COVID-19 for a total of 15 minutes or more
  • You provided care at home to someone who is sick with COVID-19
  • You had direct physical contact with the person (hugged or kissed them)
  • You shared eating or drinking utensils
  • They sneezed, coughed, or somehow got respiratory droplets on you

What if I’m living with someone that tests positive for COVID-19?

If you are living with someone who tested positive for COVID-19:

 

  • You will need to go get tested
  • Do not come to school until you can provide a negative test result to administration and you're isolating away from the infected person
  • You may not be able to return to campus pending your results and determination of isolation for infected person

What happens with my status at school if I get COVID-19?

You will be placed on a Leave of Absence until you are able to return to school.

When can a team member or student with a positive COVID-19 test return to school?

Team members and students with a positive test may return to school when they meet the following criteria:

 

  • They have been fever-free for 3 days
  • Their other symptoms have improved
  • It has been at least 10 days since their symptom onset
  • If the person had no symptoms, they may return 10 days after they were tested

Can I come back to school if I test Negative for COVID-19?

Yes, however, if you were in close contact with an individual that tested positive you are asked to return after day 7 after receiving a negative test result (test must occur on day 5 or later)
