Aveda is weeks away from launching their new skin care line, Tulasara, and the industry is abuzz with anticipation . Aveda has always been on the cutting edge of integrating holistic technology and high performance, innovative treatments to address global skin care concerns. Tulasara does not disappoint!
I was given the opportunity to attend a five day training in Minneapolis this past April with top educators from across the country. We were fortunate to participate in discussions with the trailblazers behind the development of the products such as the famed Althea Knight, Executive Director of Botanical Research and Development as well as practice the new facial treatments designed by Helga Hefner, Aveda Project Leader Spa Treatment and Mark Zollicoffer, Aveda Director for Spa Education. This was a once in a lifetime opportunity!
What is Tulasara? “Tula” meaning “balance” and “Sara” meaning “moving towards”, MOVING TOWARDS BALANCE. What a beautiful way to look at skin health!

From the Ayurvedic perspective, Tulasara is the natural ability to restore the skin to a balanced skin state…the absence of negatives. Tulasara suggests all skin health starts with hydration to normalize skin barrier. Skin is the largest organ in the body and serves many purposes, one of which is to protect. If your skin barrier is compromised there is an increased likelihood for bacteria, toxins, and sun exposure to have an easier time wreaking havoc. This means an increase in inflammatory responses that will result in fine lines, acne, and hyperpigmentation. Everyone wants to have perfect, glowing skin as we age and Tulasara can achieve this through consistency of product use and professional services. *Facial Dry Brushing-we’ve all heard of dry brushing for the body but this groundbreaking technique takes exfoliation to the next level. Two dry brushes will glide across your face providing a light exfoliation that will set your skin up for success to optimally receive products during remainder of the facial.
*Aroma Infusions-replacing the singular notes in the treatment room are 9 new Aroma Infusions to address Elemental Nature imbalances. Each infusion is created specifically to address skin conditions. Some of the wonderful botanicals found in the Infusions are organic sandalwood, blue chamomile, spike lavender, organic grapefruit and olibanum to just name a few.
*Recovery Serum– a lightweight serum that disrupts the inflammation cycle. Can be used within facial treatments as well as pre/post waxing…Yay!!
