WHERE WERE YOU BEFORE BECOMING A COSMETOLOGY INSTRUCTOR?
Appleton, WI, where I was a stylist and manager for sixteen years at a salon and spa called Aura.
WHAT IS THE MOST REWARDING PART ABOUT BEING AN EDUCATOR?
You get to impact lives. There is nothing more rewarding than knowing and seeing the evidence that you’ve made an impact on someone’s life or multiple lives. As instructors, we should not seek for rewards and praise. Sometimes, we cannot physically see the appreciation and impact we have made but just know that it’s there. This reward on its own drives me to want to be the best instructor I can be for my students.
IN YOUR OPINION, THE MOST IMPORTANT THING ABOUT HAIR CARE IS _________.
Your hair products are the first and most important step to achieving a desired look or hairstyle. Without the correct hair care products, you will not achieve or maintain your desired look.
IN YOUR OPINION, WHAT IS THE BIGGEST POINT OF DIFFERENCE THE INSTITUTE OF BEAUTY AND WELLNESS OFFERS?
IBW is constantly educating and investing in the staff. They see the value in knowledge, which in return passes it on to their students to set them above everyone else.
WHAT IS ONE OF THE MOST FUN OR INTERESTING EXPERIENCES YOU HAVE HAD AT IBW?
Charity fashion shows are always interesting. With the day of hustle then the party after. It always amazes me when they hit the catwalk.
IBW also has the most ingenious and interesting students to put the fun factor in our days.

DO YOU HAVE ANY ADVICE FOR SOMEONE CONSIDERING THE BEAUTY OR WELLNESS INDUSTRY AS A CAREER OPTION?
Work hard. In the professional beauty industry, you have to hustle. Every day you walk in and bring your “A-Game.” You attract what you project. If you project energy and a great attitude you’ll always have lots of interesting clients and a solid business. If you have a great personality your potential for growth will increase.
