INSTRUCTOR: LIZ | PROGRAM: MASSAGE
WHERE WERE YOU BEFORE BECOMING A MASSAGE INSTRUCTOR?
Before becoming a Massage Instructor, I took college level classes for Anatomy & Physiology, Biochemistry and Microbiology. Also, I worked at the front desk at Neroli as a Team Leader. Before that, I worked at Starbucks as a Store Manager. My science classes, along with my knowledge of business, have helped me help students understand all aspects of their career.
WHAT IS THE MOST REWARDING PART ABOUT BEING AN EDUCATOR?
I love seeing the a-ha! moments on students’ faces. It’s exciting to see them put together information and then use it for their guests.
IN YOUR OPINION, WHAT IS THE BIGGEST POINT OF DIFFERENCE THE INSTITUTE OF BEAUTY AND WELLNESS OFFERS?
Unlike other massage schools, IBW offers students Ayurvedic education. I love helping students to know and understand how Elemental Nature influences every aspect of our lives.
WHAT IS ONE OF THE MOST FUN OR INTERESTING EXPERIENCES YOU HAVE HAD AT IBW?
I think the best experience has been the cadaver lab. Students can really understand the muscles when they see them in person. Also, Rock Climbing for our soon to be graduates is always a fun experience.
DO YOU HAVE ANY ADVICE FOR SOMEONE CONSIDERING THE BEAUTY OR WELLNESS INDUSTRY AS A CAREER OPTION?
My advice for anyone considering IBW would be to go for it! You will have a rewarding future if you work hard and graduate. Being a graduate of IBW, I can say it was one of the best decisions I ever made.
FILL IN THE BLANK: “ON MY DAYS OFF, I LIKE TO ____.”
On my days off, I like to hike in the woods or get a massage.
